WHEN “JUST TIRED” DOESN’T TELL THE WHOLE STORY
The full calendar. The afternoon slump. The plans you want to say yes to. When iron is low, even ordinary days can ask more of you than you have to give.
A tiredness that follows you from the morning alarm to the end of the day.
The stairs or your usual walk leave you more winded than you expect.
Weakness, headaches, or lightheaded moments make everyday tasks harder.
Cold hands and feet, sometimes alongside skin that looks paler than usual.
These symptoms can have more than one cause. Lab testing helps us find out whether iron deficiency is part of yours.
HEAVY PERIODS & LOW IRON
With heavy periods, repeated blood loss can gradually drain your iron reserves. Replacing that iron may help relieve symptoms caused by deficiency. We also help you understand when the bleeding itself needs evaluation, so you have a plan beyond the next infusion.
REPLENISH WHAT’S MISSING
Iron helps your body make hemoglobin—the part of red blood cells that carries oxygen. When iron is depleted, that essential work can suffer.
IV iron delivers replacement iron directly into your bloodstream. Your body can use it to rebuild iron stores and support healthy red blood cell production.
IV delivery bypasses the gut when your body struggles to absorb oral iron.
Consider IV treatment when oral iron is not tolerated or has not adequately restored your iron stores.
Correcting iron deficiency can help ease related fatigue and improve your capacity for daily activity as your body recovers.
Illustrative treatment goal. Your labs determine your actual response and timing.
We review labs from your PCP or referring physician, or draw new labs here. Your symptoms, medical history, and iron studies help us understand what you need.

IT’S ABOUT MORE THAN A LAB RESULT
You don’t want to spend every day deciding what you’re too tired to do. If iron deficiency is holding you back, getting answers is a practical first step toward getting more out of your days.

Need help with an appointment or your existing labs? We’re here to help.
(337) 783-2410We use a prescription IV iron product selected by your clinician. Its approved indication is iron-deficiency anemia in patients with chronic kidney disease on hemodialysis who receive medication to support red blood cell production. Use for other causes, including heavy menstrual bleeding, is off-label and requires an individualized prescribing decision. Your clinician reviews the expected benefits, alternatives, and risks with you.
Yes. Blood loss from heavy menstrual periods can deplete iron stores and lead to iron-deficiency anemia. Iron replacement addresses the deficiency, while evaluating and treating the cause of heavy bleeding helps prevent it from returning. We review your history and labs and may recommend follow-up with your PCP or gynecologist.
Yes. We need to confirm iron deficiency and review whether IV iron is appropriate before treatment. We can draw labs here or review results from your PCP or referring physician. Testing may include a CBC, hemoglobin, ferritin, and transferrin saturation. The clinician determines whether existing labs are recent and complete enough or need updating.
IV iron may be an option when oral iron causes intolerable side effects, does not adequately improve iron stores, or is unlikely to be absorbed because of a medical condition. It delivers iron into a vein, bypassing intestinal absorption. Your clinician reviews what you have tried and whether oral or IV replacement is the right choice.
Improvement is gradual as your body uses the supplied iron. Some people notice changes over the following weeks; the timing depends on the degree of deficiency, other causes of symptoms, and ongoing blood loss. Follow-up labs and your symptoms help us assess your response. An infusion is not an instant energy boost.
The number of visits and infusion time depend on your lab results, the iron product prescribed, your dose, and your response. We explain your schedule before treatment and allow time for monitoring and observation. Contact the clinic to plan your appointment; no single visit length or treatment count fits everyone.
Yes. Follow-up labs are part of your treatment cycle, timed by your clinician so they can be meaningfully interpreted after an infusion. We compare updated blood counts and iron studies with your starting results and review how you feel before making further treatment decisions.
IV iron can cause nausea, cramps, dizziness, low blood pressure, and injection-site reactions. Serious allergic reactions can occur. Monitoring continues during treatment and for at least 30 minutes afterward, until you are clinically stable. Follow-up labs also help avoid iron overload. Share prior IV iron reactions, medications, and pregnancy status. This IV iron is not recommended while breastfeeding; discuss alternatives with your clinician.
No. Heavy periods are one reason for iron deficiency. Other causes include gastrointestinal blood loss, absorption problems, and certain medical conditions. We welcome adults with confirmed iron deficiency for a clinical review. Finding the cause matters, and we coordinate with your referring clinician when needed.
